Fabricated/Thick Walled Expansion Joint

Fabricated expansion joints, also known as thick wall expansion joints/Flanged and Flued type expansion joints. they are specifically designed for high pressure and low temperature applications, especially where only axial deflections are involved.

Fabricated expansion joints are characterized by a high convolution profile and thick single layer construction. These expansion joints are in one or more convolutions (Up to 5) in a wide range of dimensions. Expansion joints are made from single thick layer usually from 4 mm and up. Thick wall expansion joints material is the same as the Heat exchange shell, which is typically carbon steel, low alloy carbon steel, high alloy austenitic stainless steel.

Flanged and Flued type expansion joints shall apply to fixed tube sheet exchangers that require flexible elements to reduce shell and tube longitudinal stresses and tube to tube sheet joint loads. Flanged and flued expansion joints are designed as per the requirements of ASME Code Sec. VIII Div-1 Appendix 5 and TEMA.

Fabricated Expansion joints/ thick wall expansion joints offers rigid structure capable of withstanding extreme mechanical and thermal loads. Thick walled variants are manufactured through precise welding and machining process to meet the stringent performance requirements.
