Purge Connection
A purge connection is a critical feature installed at the sealed end of the internal sleeve in a metal expansion joint, particularly in services involving abrasive, corrosive, or particulate-laden media.Through this connection, a purge medium either gas or liquid is injected between the bellows and the internal sleeve.
This Flushing Action
- Keeps the convolutions free of debris, solids, or corrosive residue,
- Reduces erosion and corrosion, and Helps prevent packing or clogging that could impair bellows movement.
Purging
- Continuous (for critical or high-risk processes),
- Intermittent (as needed during operation),Or timed with startup/shutdown cycles.
Applications
- FCCUs (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units)
- Slurry lines, flue gas ducts
- Chemical processing units
- Power plants (ash handling, exhaust gas paths)
